ACCOMMODATION & FOOD
PTARMIGAN AND REINDEER AS NEIGHBOURS
Deep in the wilderness, among calm lakes and majestic mountains, you can enjoy the stillness and comfort that only this kind of place can offer. With your closest neighbours being the ptarmigan and reindeer, you will sleep a little deeper. Our accommodation is spread between a number of smaller houses and our main lodge. All our beds are incredibly comfortable and the décor is rustic and cosy. We have a wood-fired sauna down by the lake and a hot tub with room for 10-12 people.
FLAVOURS FROM THE MOUNTAINS AND FOREST
Our menu is based on what nature provides. The majority of our meals are served in our octagonal Sámi cot with aromas of the mountains, marshes and forest. Trout and arctic char are taken from our own waters and reindeer and moose meat from our lands. As are the mushrooms and berries. Our dishes are flavourful, delicious and carefully prepared – and they are inspired by both Sámi culture and Swedish classics.
MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCES
HUNTING
WE COME FROM GENERATIONS OF HUNTERS
The Sámi people have always been hunters. Hunting has filled our pantries so we can survive the long winters and even today hunting is a natural part of everyday life in Hosjöbotten. What we hunt varies depending on the time of year and number of game. Hunting experiences can be combined with comfortable accommodation, delicious food and relaxing in the lake and sauna. We can offer hunting packages for moose, bear, black grouse, capercailzie and ptarmigan, all with an experienced guide and all-inclusive accommodation. Please contact us for more detailed information on how we can make your hunting experience extra special.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Ptarmigan hunting is organised on our land through a ballot system, which means that the ballot decides when and where we can hunt. Once you have secured a place, we look forward to guiding you to the best spots and help ensure that your hunting experience is a memorable one.
FISHING
EXPERIENCE MOUNTAIN FISHING IN UNIQUE WATERS
Untouched nature, crystal clear water and large arctic char and trout. Many of our guests return to us year after year to fish in Hosjöbotten. You can buy fishing licences for both the lakes and rivers, some of which only permit our fly fishing guests. In general, we only allow anglers to use hand-held equipment in our waters. Some lakes have boats with electric or four-stroke engines for rent, and we offer complete experience packages for anglers of all kinds.
KAYAKING
KAYAKING THROUGH SÁMI LANDS
The system of lakes in Hosjöbotten offers excellent kayaking in untouched nature. Let the silence, wildlife and crystal clear water surround you. Maybe stop for a picnic on a deserted beach and cook your lunch over an open fire. We have a number of safe kayaks you can rent for self-guided outings. And for an unforgettable experience, we recommend one of our kayaking packages with an experienced guide, meals and overnighting in the mountains.
HIKING
HIKING WITH PANORAMIC VIEWS
Hosjöbotten is the perfect starting point to experience the mountains from on foot. This is where ancient forests, marshes, lakes and mountains meet. Reindeer grazing lands, old settlement sites and trapping pits give witness to the long history of Sámi people living in the area. You can sleep comfortably in our accommodation and go on beautiful self-guided day trips, or book guided hikes where we will tell you all about the mountains, flora and fauna and about the lives Sámi have lived in the places you pass by.
GROUPS AND CONFERENCES
UNIQUE MEETINGS & CELEBRATIONS
Here at De Åtta Årstiderna, we have everything you need for a successful meeting, conference, party, reunion or celebration. You can hold meetings in our fantastic octagonal Sámi cot or hold workshops in small groups in the surrounding houses. Good conversations come easily around an open fire. There is also plenty of room here for large sit-down meals, for example for a birthday party or other special occasion.
GREAT OPEN AIR EXPERIENCES

We can naturally help you tailor your visit to suit your needs, and can help arrange activities ranging from team building challenges in the mountains and forest to snowmobiling, fishing, fun and games, etc. Please get in touch with us and let us help you with your planning.
ABOUT US
EIGHT SEASONS SPENT IN NATURE
Sámi culture is based on living in nature, on nature’s terms. Life is dictated by the reindeer, weather and climate. In our world, the land we live on is only ours to borrow. It’s not ours to own and it is important that we don’t destroy any aspect of it for future generations. When you live in harmony with nature, even small nuances between the seasons are seen as significant changes. We see the Sámi year as having eight seasons – and we have named our family business after this concept.
WELCOME TO HOSJÖBOTTEN
We are Daniel and Mirja Persson and we run the company De Åtta Årstiderna – The Eight Seasons. We are reindeer herding Sámi who work in the tourism industry and we want to give more people the opportunity to experience Sámi culture and how life can be when it is spent close to nature. Our guests visit us for our untouched open spaces and our animal and plant life. For rewarding meetings and experiences together. To see the changing of the light, experience the silence and for the giving discussions that flow after a long day out in the mountains. These are the experiences that we have based our concept on.
We are looking forward to seeing you here!
